BRIDGING COMPLEXITY-ORIENTED LEARNING FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE
We implement two capacity-building events for health educators to understand our complexity-oriented learning approach, and to exploit it for educating their students.
Afterwards, we implement an intensive program that empowers health students to become capable agents of change towards a healthier European society.
HEALTH EDUCATOR TRAINING – PART 1: CAPACITY
A first training event introduces our complexity-oriented learning approach to health educators from the participating higher education institutes.
Through a blend of joint learning activities, they understand our complexity-oriented learning philosophy and become familiar with its specific complexity-oriented learning systematic.
The results of the training are: The health educators understand how knowledge is created and what constitutes the social basis for learning and education within change and transitions. They understand to think and work consistently from a complex onto-epistemology.
And they are able to take a systems perspective that embraces non-linear causality so that their educating and researching will become rooted in the anticipation of complexity adapted to health education.
HEALTH EDUCATOR TRAINING – PART 2: FACILITATION
A second training event upskills the pre-trained health educators who are now familiar with our complexity-oriented learning philosophy and systematic, so that they build capacity to apply the approach together with other health students.
The results of the training are: The health educators embrace the learning philosophy and systematic for complexity-oriented learning adapted to health education. They understand the learner-centred and activity-driven course framework. They are able to apply the flexible framework to create a relevant and dynamic learning environment with their students. They understand the content of our course modules.
And they are able to guide the learning of their students in a real-life learning environment.
INTENSIVE STUDY PROGRAM FOR HEALTH STUDENTS
Our intensive study program empowers health students from the participating higher education institutions to build capacity towards embracing complexity.
It allows the health students to gain significantly new learning opportunities, skills development, and access to state-of-the art approaches to collaborate beyond health disciplines, institutions, and cultures. This enables them to co-create to deal with the grand societal challenge of a healthy society.
Results of the intensive program are: The health students understand to harness the emergent and dynamic characteristics of complexity in the field of health care. They are able to rethink what they learn and how they learn. They become familiar with collaborative practice in interdisciplinary and multi-cultural settings. And they are prepared to anticipate for the future.
